Optimization of PV system for minimizing the shading losses- Case Study


In continuation with the previous article on optimization of pv system for minimizing the shading losses (https://firstgreenconsulting.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/optimization-of-pv-system-for-minimizing-the-shading-losses/) , we will present a case study in this article.

Output of the Solar Panel is greatly effected by the type of shading and where they are placed. If the shading steps forward vertically then the panel should be mounted horizontally. If the shading proceeds horizontally then the  panels should be positioned vertically. Since the panels are designed generally long and narrow, panels under partial shading of few cells, will perform better and give a higher output.

For instance in the figure: 4 individual cells with same area of shading occurring horizontally , but voltage output will vary significantly. In case of vertical shading, the results would reserve.
