Government of Andhra Pradesh foreseeing the importance of renewable energy sources is considering a uniform tariff of R.s 6.49/ unit for solar photovoltaic projects. This particular tariff will be offered for all the developers to keep the uniformity.
Following this, the government invited bids through AP Transco (Nodal Agency) from the developers for setting up of solar PV units aiming to generate 1000 MW. About 331 bids for the development of 1780 MW were received .Comparing this trend with the rates offered by Tamil Nadu government, the picture changes, Tamil Nadu had offered a rate of R.s 6.48/unit with escalation facility of 5 percent over 10 years, which leads to around R.s 7.75/unit .Many developers feel that these kind of tariffs are not workable as global prices are seeing an upside of 15-20 percent in the past couple of months.
