What should be an appropriate voltage of a DC Array?

Typically PV systems are designed considering the input voltage window of inverters ,in case of central inverters the input voltage range is  400-800V. Higher The array voltage will lead to several benefits which will reduce the overall system cost .

Due to above benefits solar PV system designers are moving from typical 400- 800V DC string design to 1000V DC string design and accordingly most of the BOS suppliers have come up with string combiner box ,Circuit breakers ,inverters ..etc. which can handle 1000V DC .

TABLEThe above table shows the impact of increasing PV utilization voltage level from 700-1000V DC .
